The Center for Refugee Solidarity is a young NGO, committed to monitor the situation of refugees in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and to advocate on their behalf.

The Middle East and North Africa has been experiencing several major refugee movements resulting in some of the world's most protracted displacements, with refugees originating from Palestine, Sudan, Somalia, Western Sahara, and Iraq. Most recently, the region is witnessing a dramatic refugee crisis unfolding in Syria.

Making rights abuses visible through monitoring, documentation and advocacy, the Center for Refugee Solidarity aims to push key national and international stakeholders to ensure that the rights of refugees in the region are respected and upheld.


What we are looking for

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible student or recent graduate to join our team as a Communications Intern. The ideal candidate will have a degree in either Social/Political Sciences or Communications, excellent writing and research skills, a genuine interest in Refugee Protection and working within a non profit organization. Prior interning experience is not a requirement but we do require you to have a strong work ethic and self-motivation.


Main Responsibilities

  • Update the Center's social media accounts (twitter and facebook)

  • Support the development of the communication strategy for the Center

  • Generate content on refugee rights in the MENA region for the website and social media accounts



  • Holds or is close to completing a degree in the Social/Political Sciences, Communications or equivalent degree;

  • Fluent in English;

  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills;

  • Knowledge of on-line social networks;

  • Good command of computer programs and applications for publishing;

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision remotely and working to tight deadlines; 


The commitment

The expected working hours of the Communications Intern are flexible, with a minimum of one day a week. The role requires a minimum commitment of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
